WESTERN SPRINTS AT ALTAMONT JUNE 28

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. will lead the USAC Western Sprint Cars back to Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. June 28, holding a 14-point lead over Nick Rescino Jr. in the latest series standings. Swanson will be aiming for a third consecutive series triumph and he also won the main event at Tracy May 17.

Swanson scored his second 100-lap USAC Sprint Car feature win of the season Saturday night at All-American Speedway, leading the final seven laps of “Sprint Mania” in the TK Motorsports Keith Williams Eagle/Chevy. Swanson also won the 100-lap USAC National race at Anderson, Ind. May 21. Trailing Swanson at the finish were Rescino, who led the first 93 laps, Porter Smith, Eric Humphries and John Sarale. Swanson was also Saturday’s fastest qualifier at Roseville.

Swanson Gets Second 100 Lap win of 2008 in Roseville

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. scored his second 100-lap USAC Sprint Car feature win of the season Saturday night at All-American Speedway, leading the final seven laps of “Sprint Mania” in the TK Motorsports Keith Williams Eagle/Chevy. Swanson also won the 100-lap USAC National race at Anderson, Ind. May 21. Trailing Swanson at the finish were Nick Rescino, Jr., who led the first 93 laps, Porter Smith, Eric Humphries and John Sarale.

Swanson’s 1st National Start Results in “Glen Niebel Classic” Victory!

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. made his first USAC National Sprint Car start memorable, winning Wednesday night’s 100-lap 9th Annual “Glen Niebel Classic” presented by Sam Pierce Chevrolet at Anderson Speedway. Swanson, who leads USAC’s Western Sprint standings, trailed Levi Jones for the first 51 laps, then led the final 49 in his Construction Solutions/Bilstein Beast/Gaerte Mopar.

Brad Sweet finished a close second, followed by Bobby Santos III, Cole Whitt and Chris Windom. Jones was lapping another car when the two tangled, sending Jones into the second-turn wall. He eventually restarted the race but finished 16th. A multi-car accident erupted on lap 79 which included a flip by Brady Short, who escaped injury. Brady Bacon, who finished seventh in the 100-lap race, emerged as the new National Sprint series point leader going into Thursday night’s 38th First Financial “Tony Hulman Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

Swanson Leads Series After Altamont Victory

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. leads the 2008 USAC Western Sprint Car standings going into a May 31 race at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.

Swanson, USAC’s 2007 Carolina Ford Focus Champion and “Rookie of the Year,” earned his third career USAC Western Sprint feature win Saturday at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif. He led the final 37 laps in his TK Motorsports Keith Williams Eagle/Chevy. Greg Anderson finished second ahead of Eric Humphries, Nick Rescino Jr. and JoJo Helberg.

Swanson was also the fastest qualifier, while Rescino led the first 13 laps of the feature. Swanson leads Rescino by just five points going into the Roseville race.

Shane Hmiel won the 2008 series opener at All American Speedway, a race in which Swanson and Rescino finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Tanner Swanson of Kingsburg, Calif. won Saturday night’s 50-lap USAC Western Sprint Car race at Altamont Raceway Park, leading the final 37 laps in his TK Motorsports Keith Williams Eagle/Chevy. Greg Anderson finished second ahead of Eric Humphries, Nick Rescino Jr. and JoJo Helberg. Swanson was also the fastest qualifier and leads the new series standings. Rescino led the first 13 laps.
